30/07/2010

The 2010 WTS Summer Reception was held on the 5th July at the Southwark Cathedral. Almost 100 guests joined our speakers Kulveer Ranger and Allison Munro in the stunning cathedral library to hear them talk. The presentations were followed by canapés and wine in the cathedral courtyard on the Southbank.

Kulveer Ranger at WTS Summer ReceptionKulveer Ranger, Mayoral adviser on transport, talked about the latest Mayor's Transport Strategy and the Way To Go. He kept the audience engaged with these topical subjects and answered several tricky questions from the audience. For more information is available on the Mayor's Transport Strategy and the Way to Go on the Greater London Authority website.

Allison Munro at WTS Summer Reception
Alison Munro, Chief Executive of High Speed 2, presented a background on this monumental project which is considering the provision of a high speed rail connection from Scotland to London. Her talk gave the audience some first hand insight to the challenges that face the HS2 team and the great progress made so far. More information on the project can be found on the HS2 website.

WTS Summer Reception Southwark Cathedral CourtyardWe were also lucky to have one of the London Festival of Architecture installations titled "River Bell" displayed in the Southwark Cathedral courtyard which provided a fitting backdrop for the guests to enjoy wine, canapés and networking in the sunshine. Guests were also given the opportunity to chat informally with Mr Ranger and Ms Munro over the course of the evening.
