Mrs Dunwoody was the Chair of the Transport Select Committee and was an influential Member for Parliament. Mrs Dunwoody held the roles of Opposition Spokesperson for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and was Chair of the Labour Party Communications Committee. George Muir, Director-General of the Association of Train Operating Companies, said in an interview to BBC "Gwyneth was a passionate supporter of the railway in the UK over many years and never afraid to express strong views on its development." Her passion and principles were greatly respected by peers and her presence in politics will be missed.
Gwyneth Dunwoody attended the WTS London Christmas Event in December 2005 and shared with members and guests her experience of political life. The event provided an opportunity for members to debate key issues and come up with a WTS agenda for change, which was submitted to the Ministry of Transport. Mrs Dunwoody's involvement at this event was instrumental in initiating our contact with the Ministry, which has paved the way for continued dialogue.
WTS London pays respect to a passionate and inspirational woman.
