London 2012 Presentation and Visit
With the support of the Olympic Delivery
Authority and sponsor Parsons Brinckerhoff, members were
presented with London's plans for delivering the transport
infrastructure for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and also
had a unique opportunity to find out about transport programmes for
the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. A special presentation was
made by Yan Wang of Parsons Brinckerhoff, whose expertise provided
insight to the innovations and challenges surrounding the rapid
development of Chinas transport infrastructure. Led by WTS
London member Sue Kershaw, Head of Programme Management at
the ODA, the group then went to Stratford Regional Station to
hear a presentation on the upcoming construction projects and to
Holden Point to view the entire area from the observation deck.
Lunch at London City Airport provided the group with an opportunity
to provide input to the ODA on their consultation strategy for the
Olympic Transport Plan.
