Page Title Summer Reception 2008

17 July 2008 London Transport Museum, Covent Garden Piazza

London's Transport Museum

The Summer Reception will be held at the London Transport Museum, and will bring together leaders and representatives from across the industry.  The London Transport Museum was reopened in 2007 following a £24million transformation.

The evening will have an international focus. Keynote speaker
, Marinke Van Riet, Executive Director of the International Forum for Rural Transport and Development (IFRTD) will discuss IFRTD’s work on gender and transport: ‘An Unbalanced Load’. Marinke will speak about gender mainstreaming in the transport sector and how this will help to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, the international framework for poverty reduction.

We will also hear from former Vice President of WTS London, Elsie Owusu OBE, who will provide an insight into her work in Ghana as Director of Accra Rapid Transit and Sustainable Systems Limited and of Ghana Infrastructure Limited, where she worked with a number of partners on the implementation of a mass transit system for the Ghanaian capital city of Accra and Lagos, Nigeria.

A prize draw and silent auction will be held to raise funds for one of IFRTD’s projects in a developing nation.  Places are limited so register now to avoid disappointment.
