Declaration
We have designed this site to be completely accessible and usable, working in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG v1.0).
In keeping with its public-service remit, and its obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), the WTS will try to ensure that its media is accessible to people who have visual, hearing, motor or cognitive impairments.
Validation
We have used XHTML 1.0 and CSS that conforms to specification, as laid out by the W3C because we believe that usability and accessibility must have a solid foundation.
We have also endeavoured to achieve AAA accessibility as measured against version 1.0 of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. We are aware however, that a number of the Priority 3 checkpoints of the WCAG are subjective and although we are sure that we have met them squarely, there may be instances where interpretation may vary.
All pages on this site are WebXACT AAA & Section 508 approved. We have reviewed all the guidelines and believe that all these pages are in compliance.
Navigation aids:
Links will appear in contrasting colours from the body text and will be underlined until in focus when the underline is removed, thus aiding you with co-ordination between mouse and mouse pointer and keyboard users can see which item is in focus, this can aid navigation for people with eyesight problems.
We have provided a 'Skip' link, this can be seen by tabbing through the links or read by screen readers, it is not visible all the time. It gives you the option to skip to the main content of the page or to the global navigation; it is available on every page within this site.
